VFW DINNERS:
VFW Post 7741 has invited Northmont NJROTC to continue to help with their monthly dinners. On the third Friday of each month, one parent chaperone and two uniformed cadets work at the post, serving dinners and bussing tables. If you have signed up to work, please be at the VFW Post 7741 (North Main St. in Clayton, just north of Westbrook/Dog Leg Road) by 5:30.
To sign up as a parent chaperone or an alternate parent chaperone, contact Michelle Adams at jmc4adams@yahoo.com or 564-3250.
POP CAN RECYCLING
VFW Post 7741 also donates all of their empty pop cans to the unit for recycling. Kevin Fannin picks these up once a month to take for recycling. If you have pop cans you'd like to donate, please gather them into a garbage can and contact Michelle Adams to arrange your donation.
Please note 100% of all funds raised go directly to support the unit & cadets. We greatly appreciate your support and any volunteering you may do as a parent.
NORTHMONT NJROTC HOLDS SUCCESSFUL BINGO FUNDRAISER
The Northmont NJROTC Boosters teamed with VFW Post 7741 to hold a BINGO dinner fundraiser on Saturday, April 23. Over 100 guests enjoyed a steak or chicken dinner, complete with tossed salad, baked potato, mixed vegetables, bread donated by O'Charley's and Bob Evans, and a dessert bar including goodies donated by KD Cakes and Panera. Door prizes, donated by the VFW, the Jones family, and Laurie Singer, included Dayton Dragons tickets, jewelry, a bottle of wine, and assorted other gifts. The highlight of the evening was the six rounds of Bingo, called by Marilyn Jones and Cadet Caitlin Jones; winners of each round split the pot with the NJROTC unit, with the top winner netting $83. The 50/50 raffle winner won $140. Twenty-five parents and cadets volunteered to cook, wash dishes, serve food, and sell Bingo tickets, resulting in a very successful and fun evening for our guests.

FIRST ANNUAL CHILI COOKOFF A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
Twenty-nine chili chefs brought their crock pots to American Legion 707 on Saturday, October 23, to compete in the first annual Northmont NJROTC Chili Cookoff to benefit the unit and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Celebrity judges selected their top six favorites, and then narrowed down the medalists to select the winning recipe. Roger Dilts' Red, White, and Bleu Chili was judged BEST OF THE BEST. Second place was awarded to Sam Wolffram, who was also chosen Crowd Favorite, and third place went to Michelle Osterholt. Rounding out the finalists were Paul Patterson, Stephanie Shafer, and Wendy O'Shea.
In addition to the fun of tasting almost thirty different chili recipes, guests were treated to door prize raffles, with prizes ranging from Jelly Belly crayons to dining and shopping gift certificates, all donated by local businesses. Two rounds of silent auctions and dancing to music provided by DJ Blind Dog capped off a night that put the FUN in FUNdraising.
Thanks to all contestants, celebrity judges, and parents who helped with set up and clean up!
Special thanks to our PROGRAM SUPPORTERS. Be sure to patronize these local businesses and thank them for their support of Northmont NJROTC.
